National Grandparents Day Is September 13th

Grandparents Day, a national holiday, is on Sunday, September 13th. While it may not be the most celebrated holiday, you can be the new favorite grandchild by remembering the holiday and appreciating all your grandparents have done.

On, September 6, 1979, President Jimmy Carter issued an official proclamation designating the first Sunday after Labor Day as National Grandparents Day. Grandparents Day is to celebrate “grandparents whose values transcend passing fads and pressures, and who possess the wisdom of distilled pain and joy. “ Jacob Reingold and Marian McQuade are credited with gathering support for Grandparents Day and getting the resolution passed. They believed Grandparents were underappreciated despite providing “our society a link to our national heritage and traditions.”
